نبذة مختصرة : The late blight of potato (S. tuberosum) is caused by the fungus Phytophthora infestans, is the most devastating disease of this crop, one of the alternatives for its control is through genetic improvement, the present study is carried out with the aim of evaluating genetic resistance for late blight in 12 promising clones and 4 potato varieties. The research was conducted at the Nono Experimental Farm located in the Pichincha province at 2710 meters above sea level. A randomized complete block design (DBCA) was used, with three repetitions and functional analysis through the media separation test with Tukey at 5 percent. The variables studied were taken under the area of the curve of progress of the disease (ABCPE), yield, quality of the tuber, among others. From the results obtained it was possible to determine that the INIAP-Natividad, INIAPLibertad and clones 392657.171 and 399002.52 varieties were the materials that presented the highest resistance to disease. The materials that presented the highest production were INIAP-Natividad, INIAP-Libertad and Superchola with 24.8; 24.6 and 23.3 kg pt-1 respectively. It is important to remark that the INIAP-Libertad variety is the one that presented the highest percentage of tubers with a commercial size of 41,2 percent. ; El tizón tardío de la papa (S. tuberosum) es causado por el hongo Phytophthora infestans, es la enfermedad más devastadora de este cultivo, una de las alternativas para su control es a través del mejoramiento genético, en este sentido el presente estudio se realizó con el objetivo de evaluar la resistencia genética al tizón tardío de 12 clones promisorios y 4 variedades de papa.
