Abordagem fisioterapêutica na Atrofia Muscular Espinhal (AME): uma revisão integrativa ; Physical therapy approach in Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA): an integrative review

Objective: The aim of the present study was to analyze through an integrative review of the techniques and physiotherapeutic methods that can be used for the treatment of SMA. Methods: A search was performed in the PubMed, LILACS and Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro) databases. The descriptors used were: “spinal muscular atrophy and rehabilitation” and “spinal muscular atrophy and physical therapy”. Inclusion criteria were: 1) filter: [human beings, 10 years (2009-2019)] 2) languages: portuguese, english and spanish. Afterwards, articles that investigated techniques, methods and physiotherapeutic methods used as an outcome to mobility, function, bônus and strength in people with SMA were selected. Literature reviews and duplicated articles were excluded. Results: Seven articles were included in the study, which contemplated the use of physiotherapists through aquatic therapy, resistance exercises, aerobic exercises, therapy exercise and ventilatory weaning. The highest prevalence of studies were in patients with type I SMA, following by types II and III. Resources vary from 2 to 5 times a week, analyzing motor variables available, through valid variations, muscle strength, functional tests, respiratory aspects during tests and rarely laboratory tests. The articles had a low level of evidence and were classified as level IV. Conclusion: Respiratory physiotherapy-related techniques stand out in the main management in this group of individuals, justified by providing high rates of morbidity and mortality and hospitalization. The need for randomized controlled studies that addressed physiotherapeutic strategies in different contexts for a better understanding and evolution of the disease was highlighted, due to the clinical characteristics and dysfunctions caused by the disease that sometimes limit the visits to the outpatient and research clinics. ; Objetivo: O objetivo do presente estudo foi analisar através de uma revisão integrativa as técnicas, métodos e intervenções fisioterapêuticas aplicadas no ...
