The article provides information on the growing interest in the use of self-emulsifying lipid formulations (SELFs) due to their ability to solubilize poorly water-soluble lipophilic drugs and overcome the problem of poor drug absorption. The author stated that the formulations can improve the bioavailability of compounds. He added that straightforward solid SELF approach enables the development of tablets using a liquid SELF for a poorly water-soluble active pharmaceutical ingredient (API).
